'Best Friends' is a feature in Snapchat that lists people you communicate with most frequently. If you snapchat with someone more often than others, that someone will be featured on the list of your best friends alongside other two people that you chat with most. The best friends list is displayed on your profile and features a score that indicates the number of snaps you've sent to that person in the last 7 days.
The best friends list is updated every week and displays 3 people that you communicate with most often within the week. However, the list can be extended to accommodate 5 people by using the code "sopopular..." (note lowercase and ellipsis at the end). This secret code is entered into the text field after taking a photo after which you proceed to your friends list and hit refresh.
Snapchat has disabled the best friends feature, it has come up with a new feature called Snapchat Friend Emojis.
Also, a new Snapchat emoji that's driving people crazy: the snapchat hourglass emoji.

It is still unclear why Snapchat would want to make this feature a sticky on your profile, let alone introduce it in the first place. There have been many complaints from users regarding the best friends feature. For one, you would want to keep such information private and away from the prying eyes of your other girlfriend (if you're that kind of guy) or even your family members, but there's no privacy setting to disable the feature as yet.
Either way, it's here to stay and although there are no strict procedures to hide this list, there are some work-around that may or may not get the job done for you. Let's take a look.
First of all however, it should be understood that Snapchat's best friends list is a feature you cannot remove, hide, delete or have control over. Snapchat's 'magical' friendship algorithm decides who your best friends are. Not so magical for people with hidden secrets: a secret lover, crush, forbidden friend or even an extramarital affair.
The closest way to hiding your best friends list on Snapchat is by willfully manipulating the results and displaying a select list of your best friends. This will prevent others from seeing the friends that you don't want them to see. There are two ways to accomplish this:
Chatting more with your safe friends can be a good work-around. By 'safe' friends, I mean the people that you're okay with if they're displayed on your best friends list. This could include your family members or your actual best friends. The more you chat with them, the more are they likely to appear on your best friends list thus replacing your existing best friends from the list.
Since the score and subsequently the algorithm is determined by the number of snaps you sent out, you could send out as many snaps as possible to these people. The list will automatically update to accommodate the new best friends and hide the existing friends, hopefully saving your existing relationship.
If you have a particular someone you want to remove from your best friends list (this is probably why you're reading this post in the first place), you can simply block him/her from your friends list and then unblock him/her again. This will reset the score on your communication with that person to 0 and as such hide him/her from the best friends list.
Using the above two tricks, you can ensure that although your best friends list is not entirely hidden, you can hide people from your best friends list on Snapchat.
